Social Distancing Plan for AutocrossSeptember 18, 2020 by - Matt SheetsSocial Distancing Plan – Solo Events
- The event will be online registration only (removing the impact of unnecessary queues violating social distancing guidelines)
- Drivers that are feeling unwell or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms (e.g. fever, cough, shortness of breath) or have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19 symptoms in the past 14 days need to stay at home. Drivers who pre-register but do not attend for any reason will not be charged until a “tire is turned”.
- Drivers shall practice social distancing by:
- Wearing a mask/blocker while on site (specifically while in grid or interacting with others within 6 feet)
- Temporary relaxation of masks is authorized when in/around your own vehicle, while driving, or to mitigate the impact of heat or weather effects.
- Sanitizing hands – hand sanitizer will be available but it is highly recommended to bring your own.
- Refrain from touching their face.
- Staying 6 ft or greater away from other individuals during the event to the maximum extent practicable.
- Wearing a mask/blocker while on site (specifically while in grid or interacting with others within 6 feet)
- Cars should be parked with 6 ft spacing between vehicles.
- Roving tech inspections will be used – all drivers should open your hood to symbolize your vehicle is ready for safety inspections.
- Loaner helmets will not be available (removing a common shared commodity that may otherwise spread contamination)
- Check in on the posted driver list (on the timing van) while maintaining a 6 ft distance from others (reducing unnecessary face-to-face interaction)
- Everyone will bring their own pen to check into the van.
- Water will not be provided; drivers will bring their own water (reducing communal commodities).
- Drivers should bring their own gloves for use during work assignments (this will minimize the amount of drivers touching the same cones)
- Driver’s meeting will be conducted via loudspeaker (eliminating a typical large gathering of participants)
- No passengers in the vehicle; exception participants that are part of the same household (reducing transmission risk while in close quarters).
- Radios / red flags and/or any other communally used item will be wiped with Clorox between heats (mitigating transmission risk on items that may see use by multiple participants).
Autocross Schedule UpdateMarch 22, 2020 by - Matt SheetsUpdate from our Solo Chair, James George:
“In the past few weeks life has become chaotic. With the hoarding of TP, shelter-at-home rules, and social distancing, a lot has changed. Everyday there is more news about how COVID-19 will affect us and what we should do to prevent it. To add to this chaos is the unknown in motorsports: are we having an event, do I need to prep my car, when’s the next event gonna happen? The answers are something we just don’t know yet.Under the current conditions and with everyone’s safety in mind, the Solo Team has agreed to temporarily suspend all autox events. What does this mean for you? This is a great time to work on your car, tune your suspension, purchase a helmet, figure out that “sound that you just don’t know where it’s coming from”, or finish another project unrelated to cars. In the end, we want everyone to stay safe and healthy. When the time comes to autox, we will send out another communication with plenty of time for you to get prepared to start the season again.
While the thought of no autocross right now is unfortunate and upsetting, Peter Bruschi reminds us that we autocross because we love it and see no better way to spend our weekend. The world’s changed over the past month but at the end of it all, we’ll be back chasing those cones quicker than you can say autocross.”
